Acer Predator Helios 18 and 16 New Gaming Laptops

 Acer introduced new Predator Helios gaming laptops. As computer technology and manufacturing improves, it becomes possible to build reasonably mobile laptops with this enormous display size 18 inch.

These new laptops come with the latest internal components, such as Intel’s 13th Gen CPUs (and up to 32GB RAM) and NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 40 series for mobile.

The new Helios 18 and Helios 16 support up to 2TB (PCIe Gen4) of internal SSD storage, which can be configured as a RAID0 array for maximum throughput.

Despite its 18-inch 16:10 display size, the resolution is “only” 2560×1600 (250Hz mini LED or 165Hz or 240Hz) or 1920×1200 (165Hz), depending on the option you choose. For gaming purposes, these are great options.

Starting at $1700, the Acer Predator Helios is relatively affordable for its size and performance. (ubergizmo)

Amenbo, 5 Finger Mouse

Double Research & Development Co. has come up with a spanking new input device that it calls “amenbo”, where this unique device is capable of sensing movements and pressure of individual fingers. Complete hand movements can be directly input into the computer, from where it will be utilized in a range of applications that require complete hand recognition. Here’s what the manufacturer has to say about it, “We put a mouse sensor under each fingertip, and can input the coordinates for each finger as well as the downward pressure of each finger. This means that the actual hand motions are being input to the PC. For example, it is possible for the PC to receive the finger data for however many fingers are needed for an action, operating it with one or both hands.” All fingers are all linked by a flexible printed mesh base which is constructed from stretchable material in order to accommodate a variety of hand sizes. Cocoon Collection's Laptop Bags

Now here’s something interesting in the computer bags/cases department. A company called “Cocoon Innovations” will be introducing a new lineup of bags next week at CES 2009 called the “Cocoon” Collection. The collection will feature a complete lineup of laptop computer bags, totes, portfolios, and accessories for the digital lifestyle. What makes the bags unique is a propriety feature on the interior of each bag called the “The Grid”. The Grid is a proprietary “universal, elastic organization system” for “customized digital device storage.”.
