HP EliteBook, Ultra-Portable Notebook

EliteBook series are new ultra-portable notebooks from HP, its smallest and lightest HP notebook models with built-in optical drive. The Elitebook models were 2530p, 2730p, and 2230s. Meanwhile, 2530p is currently HP’s smallest and lightest-weight business notebook with only 3.19-pound in weight. Its rotating screen transforms it into a pen-based tablet measuring only 1.11-inches thin. New features include an integrated touchpad, tablet buttons and a jog dial. All the series mentioned features Intel Core™ 2 Duo ultra-low-voltage (ULV), with memory up to 3 GB DDR2 RAM, and HDD up to 250 GB, all wrapped in a sleek and durable HP DuraCase – a brushed, anodized aluminum exterior casing combined with a magnesium alloy chassis able to withstand tests such as extreme temperature, dust and humidity. The HP EliteBook 2530p and HP EliteBook 2730p are expected to be available by early September, with estimated starting U.S. street pricing of $1,499 and $1,670, respectively. The HP Compaq 2230s is currently available at an estimated starting U.S. street price of $999.

Amenbo, 5 Finger Mouse

Double Research & Development Co. has come up with a spanking new input device that it calls “amenbo”, where this unique device is capable of sensing movements and pressure of individual fingers. Complete hand movements can be directly input into the computer, from where it will be utilized in a range of applications that require complete hand recognition. Here’s what the manufacturer has to say about it, “We put a mouse sensor under each fingertip, and can input the coordinates for each finger as well as the downward pressure of each finger. This means that the actual hand motions are being input to the PC. For example, it is possible for the PC to receive the finger data for however many fingers are needed for an action, operating it with one or both hands.” All fingers are all linked by a flexible printed mesh base which is constructed from stretchable material in order to accommodate a variety of hand sizes. Cocoon Collection's Laptop Bags

Now here’s something interesting in the computer bags/cases department. A company called “Cocoon Innovations” will be introducing a new lineup of bags next week at CES 2009 called the “Cocoon” Collection. The collection will feature a complete lineup of laptop computer bags, totes, portfolios, and accessories for the digital lifestyle. What makes the bags unique is a propriety feature on the interior of each bag called the “The Grid”. The Grid is a proprietary “universal, elastic organization system” for “customized digital device storage.”.
